The Refrigerator Start Device Relay with Overload is mounted to the side of the compressor on the back of the refrigerator and causes the compressor to start when refrigeration is needed. If your refrigerator is not cold, or you hear humming or clicking noises coming from the back of the appliance, the start device relay may need to be replaced. Installing this part will require basic tools, minor disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. Remember to unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Helpful Tip: You’ll need to install the existing run capacitor onto the new relay. To do so, align the shaft with the new part and slide it into place.
