This Dryer High Limit Thermostat protects your dryer from overheating by cutting off power if the dryer gets too hot. If the dryer won't heat, the high-limit thermostat may have blown. This part has been updated by the manufacturer. The new thermostat may differ in appearance, but will have the same function. The part is located behind the front access panel of the dryer. When replacing, make note of the the position of the colored wires when disconnecting. Both the thermostat and fuse can be tested to determine if either is defective. Note that a multimeter (item 964740) can be used to test for continuity to determine if the thermostat is defective and requires replacement. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.
