This SxS Refrigerator Auger Motor Drive Shaft connects the auger motor with the ice dispenser mechanism inside the ice bucket, allowing the ice cubes to be dispensed. To access this part, remove the ice bucket from the freezer door and remove the screws securing the ice bucket holder. Then use your pliers to remove the old shaft and slide off the seal to re-use. If your seal needs to be replaced, you can purchase a new one at whirlpoolparts.com under item WP2198628. When installing the new shaft, make sure it engages with the auger motor by turning it back and forth. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.
