The Washer Drain Pump removes waste water from the appliance during the cleaning cycle. It also houses a large filter which can be cleaned with affresh® washing machine cleaner once a month. If water is leaking onto the floor from the pump, the body of the drain pump may be cracked and replacing it may alleviate this issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the washing machine before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off your hot and cold water supplies. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets* (item W10135699) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
