The Dishwasher Float rises as your dishwasher is filling with water. When it reaches a certain level, the float acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. If water isn't entering your dishwasher, or if your dishwasher overflows, the float switch may need to be replaced. To access the part, you'll remove the bottom control panel of the dishwasher. The float switch is located in the left hand corner and is attached with one screw. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the attached wires. Save the screw for the new switch. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dishwasher and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. You should also shut off the dishwasher's water supply underneath the sink before replacing this part. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Dishwasher Cleaner (item W10282479) to help remove limescale and mineral build-up that can be unsightly and affect your dishwasher’s performance. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
