This Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat is a safety device that clips onto the evaporator inside the freezer. The Defrost Thermostat turns off the defrost heater in case it gets too warm in the freezer section. To access the part, you'll have to remove all shelving, bins, rails, and mounting clips from the inside of your freezer so you can access the back panel. Remove the back panel by removing the 6 Phillips screws. Remove the light bulb cover and then lift out the back panel. Replacing the element will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Recommended Item: Wire Splicing Tool 8-1/4". This stripper specializes in stripping and cutting wire. This tool is designed with a lean nose for pulling and looping wire and equipped with precision ground cutters.
